Making Overtures Scholarship Award

The Arts Office, Laois County Council are offering a scholarship place to a Laois based musician wishing to pursue a career in performance or composition from any genre of music, to attend Making Overtures 2009 “How to progress your performance career”.

An  award of  €400 will be given to the successful music practitioner (aged 18 and over) to cover course fees and subsistence.

Making Overtures is Music Network’s five day intensive professional development course aimed at Irish and Ireland-based professional musicians working in all music genres.  The programme focuses on the non-artistic elements of a successful music career, particularly self-promotion and management. 

Experienced professionals from Ireland and the UK working in a range of relevant fields including media, marketing, programming, promotion, copyright and finance will deliver the course over the five-day period.  The course will run from 13th to 17th July (inc) in The Clinton Institute, Belfield Campus, U.C.D.  For further information on Music Network see www.musicnetwork.ie  

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is Thursday 28th May on or before 5pm.
The Arts Office acknowledge the financial support of the Arts Council and the continued support of the members, staff and management of Laois County Council in the running of the Arts Programme.
