Laois Community Forum hosted an awareness evening on 17th May 2010, in Portlaoise Parish Centre, to highlight the importance of the concept of positive mental health. We recognise how important it is to look after our mental health, similar to the way we need to look after our physical health.
Speakers on the night were John Moloney, T.D., Minister for Disabilities & Mental Health, who spoke on the National Mental Health Stigma Reduction Campaign www.seechange.ie, Ms. Finola Colgan, Development Officer with Mental Health Ireland, Mr. John Farren, Director of GROW, national mental health service for young people and Mr. Ciaran Mullooly, RTE Midlands Correspondent and Vice District Governor of Lions Clubs of Ireland, promoting ASIST, a suicide prevention skills training programme for local communities. The event was a great success, with an attendance of over 100 people. To view photos of the event, click here.
