What is the Community Forum?
The Community Forum acts as the representative, collective voice of nearly 500 community and voluntary organisations in Co. Laois.  The Forum was established in 2000 and meets monthly.

What is the role of the Community Forum?
The Community Forums role is:
  • To represent the needs and priorities of the local community in regard to policy development to the various policy making bodies at county level.
  • To inform and support its representatives on the County Development Board and other committees in order to assist them in effectively and accuatley voicing the priorities and needs of the community sector.
  • To receive feedback from those representatives and to ensure that they will fulfil the role entrusted to them by th ecommunity Forum.
  • To oversee from the community perspective the implementation of the strategic plans ultimatley drawn up by the County Development Board and the Strategic Policy Committees and other bodies and to monitor and evaluate the implementation of these plans on behalf of the local community.
  • To make recommendations on topics raised within the community.

The Forum is the best way your group can have a boive in shaping the future of Co. Laois for all its citizens.  Forum membership conveys a number of important adantages to your group, namely:- Networking, Representation, Policy Development, Information Sharing, Workshops and Seminars, Social Outlet, Personal Development, Cheaper Insurance.
