Awards were made on 24th June 2009 to successful groups who entered the Community Forum Youth Projects Scheme 2009.

A total of 39 project entries were submitted and the following groups were successful:

• Laois Dyslexia Support Group
• Raheen Panto Society
• Portarlington Community Development Association - Arts/Heritage Subcommittee
• Portarlington After Schools Project
• Clonaslee Community Development Association
• St. Tighearnach's National School
• Mountmellick Youth Development Centre
• South East Laois Arts Network
• Laois/Offaly Families for Autism
• Spink Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann

Grants were awarded to organisations who wanted to carry out specific youth projects in each electoral area, which will positively enhance the quality of life for the youth of Co. Laois.
Projects were judged based on criteria set out in the Scheme, showing elements of civic, educational, economic, cultural or socially inclusive benefit to young people in the area or could be targeted at a particular minority group.

Congratulations to all who took part. It is hoped to initiate a similar scheme next year.
